We can trees 8 to 10 feet tall nearly anywhere using FedEx or
LTL trucking. Trimmed back in our regular shipping boxes, larger plants are can
be sent fully branched out in crates. This is a little photo essay of a recent
customer project for an episode of the Today Show on 10-12-06, with major changes and a huge effort to adapt to their ever
changing requirements. You try making sure that cargo is at someone's door at

| A lot of olives on this plant, we have many types of
fruiting and non-fruiting olive trees. Plants are then treated with our
polymer spray to prevent drying out during shipping. |
Can you believe that the customer changed their mind after we
got these beautiful trees ready to ship? "He" wanted an olive fruit with
a different shape. Two days of tree hunting and we found his tree, a Picaul Olive, from Spain. |

| We found 3 growers, but only Jeff (above) had any Picaul
olive trees with fruit on them. Jeff showing one of his many olive tree

olive, the produce heavy loads of olives. He grew the trees that were
prepared for shipping to New York for an episode of the
Today Show on October 12, 2006.
It was a program about cooking with SPANISH olive oil, or as the the
chef said, "OLIVE OIL FROM SPAIN," I could hear that guy from NY and I
did even need the tv. |
Arbequnia olive fruit, a great plant for your container garden or
landscape. A very flexible plant. To get fruit on you container grown
olive tree, use Arbequnia for your starter plant, they are self
pollinating. The trees need to be cold for the winter, leave outside
until temperatures get into the mid 20's.

The fruit of a Pendolino olive tree, an important
pollinator for Frantoio and Leccino olive trees. Pendolino
is a cultivar widely appreciated by growers for its high fruit
production and plays a crucial role as an excellent pollinator, both for
table and oil cultivars.

The fruit of a Picual olive tree. This olive is mostly used for
making olive oil, the oil is said to have a very strong flavor,
preferred in the Middle East. It was the tree chosen by our client Hall
Event Group and their client. The olives (drupes for
Olive people) are picked black and furnish an oil that is considered to
be of very good quality in Spain. |

| Lay trees over, hit the outside of the container to
loosen the soil inside the container. Then slide the tree out of the
container. |
Comb through the soil of the root ball with your fingers. This will
help the olive tree properly root into the ground. These Picual olive
trees were ground in redwood mulch and lava rock, so we had to take a
lot of this heavy soil mix out to make the shipping less costly. |

diverse environmental conditions. Picual reacts well to regenerative
pruning because of its capacity to sprout new growth. Our customer
wanted 3 to 4 trees per container for their appearance on the morning
show.

Picual olive trees are
vigorous plants with an
expansive crown. We used 4 trees to give a real good full appearance. This variety has an open shape and branches in a square
rectangular pattern. The small branches have leaves at close spacing
that are elliptical-lanceolate in shape and of a brilliant green color. |

The tubs are then watered and anchored into
the crate. The crate closed up and a plastic tent installed on it to
keep the humidity up high. |
Mulching trees planted in pots or in the
ground is a big part of our tree care program. Here at the nursery we
use fresh horse manure and compost to top dress the pots of our trees. |
