Olive Tree Moving Mullholland Drive, Los Angeles CA

(1.07.07) This olive tree shipment was very hard from the start, place 6 medium to large olive trees in the front yard and entry way of a home in Los Angeles, CA. The primary problems to start with is the home had very little driveway, and it was a not very thick decorated concrete surface. In addition to being on very busy road with a small decorated driveway, there was a large amount of over head telephone, fiber optic, cable t.v. and high voltage power lines that hung low over the front. Crane service for planting the trees was not possible and the trees were too heavy to be moved by hand.

I will have more to say on this project, but in short half way through it on 1-06-07 the Santa Ana winds were blowing about 70 mph hour (recorded wind gust topped out at 85 mph in the LA foot hills) and caused the wire just about 50 feet down from wires over the job site to catch fire. Then the high voltage wires dropped the ground burning and arching, then I used the cargo truck and a cable tv truck to close the road, then waited for the fire department and LADWP to turn off the power. While the fire department did a decent job with the problem it was amazing that LADWP took more than 90 minutes to deal with the problem. Since this was a work experience day for Lexy, I want to say she was very brave about the lines catching fire and falling to ground right next to us as she ran hard to get to the other side of the street and out of danger.

The up side is the road was closed for about 4 hours and we were able to plant the rest of the olive trees with the power lines turned off and no traffic.

Before the investment of our Manzanillo olive trees a stark open and very un private home. After the the delivery and placement assistance of our olive trees. Privacy, noise reduction and a softening of the entrance of the home.
"That is where I want the branch to arch over the entry way." Her husband, thrilled the first two trees are done and out of the way. Now there are 4 more olive trees to go.
In Los Angeles 70's, windy and very dry. Meanwhile back at the ranch in Porterville, rain, low 40's, mud and tree loading, too much fun.
More Rain and a lot more mud. Then on the I-5 to Los Angeles very, very  cold and snow.
