Stewart or Stuart Mexicola Avocado Tree
Great Inland Area Cold Tolerant Avocado

The Stewart or Stuart Mexicola avocado originated in Mentone in San Bernardino County. Ca on the Stewart Ranch. Which would seem to be an obviously easy way to name the tree, however the name seems to have gone through some change for reasons unknown. La Vern Nursery, a wholesale fruit tree grower lists it as Stuart, other commercial growers go with Stewart.

Fruit are oval plum like in color and in shape with waxy smooth black skin when ready for harvest. Clearly not a Hass and not Hass in flavor but a solid performer in the making of gaucamole.

Trees grow very fast and very large, awesome shade tree with the bonus of tons of fruit, it is a heavy producer.

Very cold tolerant, it will bounce back from an ugly winter in about 2 months.

Sexually this tree swings both ways, along the coast or mild climates it flowers as B variety, inland it flowers as an A variety.
