| These olive trees were going to travel all the way to La
Grange, Georgia, for a new construction project there. |
These heavy duty wood crates were needed to protect the root ball
and root crown from damage in transit. |
 |
 |
| Lexy and I scouted and
photographed a number of trees for the customer and sent
the pictures. Of those 4 tree were picked out. Lexy stands in front one
of them. |
3 trees were set into the wood crates, using a medium crane. The
fourth tree was held in reserve (a good thing as it would turn out,
since the truck driver broke one and had to drive 6 hours back to get it
replaced) |
 |
 |
| Trees are placed into the crates and the real heavy work
gets underway. |
After the trees were set into the crates a little more finish
carpentry work was needed. |
 |
 |
| Then we needed to go about re-enforcing the crates to
hold the root balls of these 2 ton trees. |
Look at Lexy and the Bronco to the left of the photo, the tree is
just HUGE! It was crated and driven to Georgia next day. |
 |
 |
| Carpet, a lot of it, was used to wrap the trunks of the
trees, then more 2 x 8 and 2 x 10 planks were nailed onto the crate. |
After the top was nailed together we used heavy metal strapping to
cross strap the root ball and crate together. |
 |
 |
| 3 Large specimen olive trees are loaded onto the flatbed cargo
truck of the drive out East. |
3 More very large Italian cypress went on the truck as were the were about
20 feet tall |
