Fall Bulb Index, Tulips, Daffodils, Iris, Crocus, Hyacinths, Allium, Amaryllis, Anemone, Begonia, Freesia, Fritillaria, Muscari, Fall Specialty Bulbs, Spring & Summer Bulb Index. Tulip Giant Darwin Hybrids
These tulips are the most perennial of all - they will give a repeat performance for several years. Among the largest of all tulips, Darwin Hybrids are unsurpassed for midseason color, blooming from late April into early May. They boast very long lasting blooms and exceptionally strong stems, so they withstand wind and problematic spring weather very well. Use them for bedding or in groups of single colors in the spring border. They are magnificent with daffodils and hyacinths. You will also want to plant plenty of extras to cut for spring bouquets. Plant the bulbs as deep as 10" in well-drained soil (deep planting encourages these bulbs to come back each year), and fertilize annually for best results.
