Fly Destroyer

Fly Destroyer  is a bio control product composed of 3 species of parasites that attack fly pupae. These tiny but very effective parasites do not bother livestock or people but are devastating on filth fly populations. Control of 85% to 95% of flies can occur with little effort. The parasites fly around at night hunting for the pupae of flies and then attack them. Within a short period of time there is a very real reduction or effective control of the flies. Properly used you will no longer need chemical fly control.

Fly Destroyer is used by both hobby and professional livestock managers. Racetracks, feed lots, backyard corrals, show grounds are among the many areas where fly parasites are used. Horses, Cattle, Chickens, Dogs, Goats, Sheep and many other animals

Questions & Answered

If They Work So Well, Why Do I Have To Make Regular Releases ?

Regular releases of the Fly Destroyer are needed because they are so effective at controlling the fly maggot population that the fly population often crashes or falls far below the threshold of what is needed to sustain the fly parasite population. By making large or very frequent early releases and smaller subsequent releases you maintain control, or a biological balance.

How Do I get Started With The Fly Destroyer ?

We suggest a container of 3,000 to 5,000 Fly Destroyers per release area. Use 3,000 for 1 to 3 horses and 5,000 for 3 to 5 horses. Areas with heavy fly populations should start with 5,000 and use less only if if the circumstances allow for it. This will treat up to 5 large animals. Getting started is fairly easy. Depending on the time of season and air temperature you make one release weekly for 3 weeks and then 1 release very 1 to 3 weeks apart there after.
55 to 75 F day time temperature release about every 2 to 3 weeks apart
75 to 85 F day time temperature, release about every 1 to 2 weeks apart
85 to 90 F plus, release once every week for satisfactory control.

How Do I Release the Fly Destroyer ?
Select areas where manure and urine accumulate, barns, stables, stalls, coral posts, paddock areas, feeding and watering stations, and manure piles.

1) It is best to release insects when you see between 5 and 20 hatched (gnat sized) insects near the top of the bucket. The best time to apply is in the late afternoon or early evening.

2) You need to place the parasites in an area that is unlikely to be disturbed by traffic. Take the heel of your shoe or boot and kick back some of the soil in the manure area and then take a handful of the fly parasite and cedar chip mixture and place it into the small hole. Lightly cover with soil or shavings. Do this about every 5 to 20 feet, depending on the size of the area being treated.

3) Another alternative is to wait until you see a large amount of the parasites moving around the inside of the container and to take the top off the container and leave it up out of the way of ants and in a shady area. The parasites will emerge and hunt for the fly maggots at night.
