Fuerte Avocado Tree

A Mexican Guatemalan cross originating in the Mexican state of Puebla. The fuerte earned its name, which means strong in Spanish, after it withstood a severe frost in California in 1913. Hardy to 26°F. Medium-sized pear-shaped fruit with a green leathery skin, easy to peel. Creamy flesh of mild and rich flavor. Oil 18%. The skin ripens green.

Before the Hass, the Fuerte set the standard by which all other avocado varieties were measured. Its flavor and classic green skin make it an excellent choice during its harvest season. Fuerte avocados are grown worldwide and provide high yields of quality fruit.  Fuerte avocado trees produce fruit late fall through spring.
