Ballerina Hybrid Musk Rose
Ballerina was introduced in 1937, its parentage unknown. Its description in Modern Roses XI reads, "flowers bright soft pink, white eye, small, single blooms in very large clusters, vigorous (3 ft) growth ..." It was introduced by J. A. Bentall of Havering, Essex, England; Belinda's Dream and Buff Beauty were among Bentall's other introductions.

| The American Rose Society classifies Ballerina as a Hybrid Musk, one of the shrub classes, and gives it a rating of 8.8, an outstanding rose - the second highest rating for hybrid musks in the 2001 Handbook, and one of the top 15 shrubs. Hybrid Musks are a group of shrubs distantly related by genetics and by scent to the original musk rose rose, Rosa moschata; historically, writers have grouped them among the polyanthas and noisettes, as well as in their own shrub class. | |
