Mycostop is a biological fungicide developed
from a naturally occurring bio control microbe. The organism was
discovered by researchers at a leading European University and developed into
a user friendly product by the bio control team at Kemira Agro in Finland.
It is now an approved product in over 15 countries.
Use
for the treatment of seeds, transplants and established plants. For the
treatment of small seedling production apply at a rate of 1 - 2 grams per
1000 sq ft. For established plants at 1 - 3 grams per 500 sq ft.

When applied as a drench or spray the dried
spores and mycelium of the Streptomyes culture in Mycostop germinate and
begin to grow on and around the plant roots. In doing so they create a
biological defense against root infecting pathogenic fungi which cause
disease such as wilt and root rot. Mycostop is used by growers for
diseases caused by Pythium, Fusarium, Botrytis, Alternaria, Phomopsis, and
to a lesser extent for Rhizoctonia and Phytophthora.
In addition Mycostop has
been shown to increase plant vigor and yields even in the absence of
obvious root pathogen activity. The explanation is that the Streptomyces
produce plant root stimulating hormones (which has been demonstrated in
the lab) or the Streptomyces control minor root pathogens which slowly
feed on and damage roots.

Highlights:
Control or suppression of many root rot and wilt
pathogenic
fungi. Pythium, Fusarium, Alternaria, Phomopsis, Rhizoctonia, Phytophthora,
Botrytis.
Plants often respond with increased vigor and yield,
like a nutrient boost.
Safe to apply. Organic approved.
Non- phytotoxic. Use on all crops such as vegetables,
herbs, ornamentals. Easy application. Small packets store for 1 year when
refrigerated.
EPA registered since 1994. Increasingly used by large
and
small growers. Recent price reduction makes it very affordable.

Examples of Mycostop use
Mycostop is used by thousands of professional growers in the U.S. and
around the world.
Following are some of the growers and crops:
1. CV Greenhouses, Massachusetts (8 ac under cover,
80 ac total). This operation has
been using Mycostop for 4 years, increasing the range of crops. They
started on annual
Vincas and are now using on several Bedding plants and Perennials for
general pathogen
control. Also on fall Pansy for Thielaviopsis black root rot. General rate
1-2 grams/100
gals/200 sq.ft.

|
2. VH Greenhouses, Pennsylvania (3 ac) has been using Mycostop for over 3
years. This
location mainly produces Christmas cactus . Mycostop applied for Fusarium
and Pythium
after sticking and then every 2-3 months at 5grams per 100 gal.

3. TF, Florida uses Mycostop on over an acre of Bromeliads and Anthuriums
for Fusarium and Pythium. Mycostop cured major disease problems in their
Bromeliads when they started using over 3 years ago.
4. C.S. locations around California use Mycostop on
Cyclamen, Dianthus,
Gerbera, Calla Lily for Fusarium and Pythium. Looking at other crops.
5. TWX Nursery, MI. This nursery produces over 20 ac
of ground covers
and herbaceous flowering perennials. Mycostop used consistently for over 4
years as a preventative drench on many crops such as Vinca Vine, Ivy,
Clematis. Pachysandra, and Euonymous.
6. MF Farms, Hudson Valley, NY has been using
Mycostop on Match and
Trust greenhouse Tomatoes for 2 yrs. Plants grown in perlite and Mycostop
used for general disease control. "Mycostop gives plants a
vitamin-like
boost" after addition and is one of the management tools that makes
possible
50 lb. yields/plant when all conditions are right.
7. MVW Greenhouses, Pennsville, NJ has been using
Mycostop on Tomatoes
since first approved by EPA over 4 years ago. This family run operation
since 1980, has a mix of Match and Trust in five poly houses containing
4800 plants. Mycostop is applied once a month through drip system for
prevention of Pythium and Fusarium.
8. Eija Jokobsson, Finland, has used for Dill and
Parsley during the last 5
years. "Seedling drench has given very good results. Mycostop is a
natural
solution for the disease problems of herbs. It protects the and is a
guarantee for high yield."
9. Timo Juntti, Finland, has used Mycostop for 5
years for diseases of
Cucumber. "Use of Mycostop is profitable. It
controls the diseases and has
given up to 10% increase even in healthy plants."
