The Fairy Polyantha Rose

Select a full sun to lightly shaded location with good air movement and well drained soil. Do not plant too deeply and apply a mulch to retain moisture. Occasional deep watering is recommended during extended dry periods. An application of slow release fertilizer will be beneficial first applied in spring then throughout the warmer months according to manufacturers directions.
Removing spent flowers will encourage further production. A light trim after main flower flushes will help maintain a neat shape. Prune back hard during winter removing any old wood and cutting cut back remaining stems to a healthy bud.

The most immediate application which comes to mind when viewing this dainty plant is its charming presence for the traditional cottage style garden where it can casually intermingle with other 'frothing' perennials in a border for that romantic ambience often sought after. This is not to say that it cannot just as easily be incorporated into simpler schemes for those limited in time. Grown in a decorative container 'Fairy Queen' can be easily maintained and moved to prime viewing positions when in its full glory. Dark green foliage makes a terrific backdrop to the vibrancy of the deep colors of the flowers giving a 'lift' to areas of the garden where there may be a high concentration of structural plants rather than color.
