Burpee Long Keeper Tomato
| Burpee Long Keeper | 30 to 40 days | VF | Semi-determinate.
A good variety for extending the tomato season. The light golden-orange to
red fruits with medium-red flesh are resistant to fruit rot. At the end of
the season before the first frost, gather the unblemished fruits and store
them, without touching each other, in a dry, cool, dark location. They
will ripen slowly and keep up to 12 weeks. Keep better in storage than any
tomatoes we've ever seen! Gather unblemished ripe or partially ripe fruits
before frost, store properly and they will stay fresh for 6-12 weeks or
more.
You will enjoy
fresh tomatoes right through the winter months. Although the taste and
texture can't compare with ripe juicy tomatoes eaten fresh from the vine.
Comparable to or better than those expensive tomatoes in the markets in
midwinter. Please remember, the skin of Long-Keeper is a light golden
orange-red when ripe, not bright red like other tomatoes. The flesh is a
good medium red color. |
