Yellow Ruffled
Slicing Tomato
Lycopersicon esculentum
Rare
3-5 oz., Tender Annual
Attractive, bright yellow, pleated fruits of paste
tomato consistency. Large vines produce late, but prolifically, until
frost. Sow seed in flats indoors and plant out in 6-8 weeks when frost
danger has passed. Plant in rows 24-36 inches apart. Needs trellising.
Enrich soil lightly with mature compost. Enhanced by companion planting
with dill, basil, marigolds or mint. Harvesting tips. Pick fruits as they
ripen. When frost threatens, entire plant can be lifted, including roots,
and hung upside down indoors to ripen remaining fruits.
